Bianca’s 3 Balayage Tips

Olaplex Ambassador, Bianca Hillier, has become known for her sculptural balayage technique. Her craft is an art form and different each and every time. Here are some of her favorite tips to achieve the perfect highlight:

CLEAN LINES

There are many factors that give Bianca her clean, precise balayage lines. First and foremost, she always uses a clean Framar brush with just a bit of lightener at the end of the bristles. Bianca stresses the importance of keeping the brush clean with each application. She does this by keeping a wet towel handy to wipe off after each application. It is with slight tension held at the tip of the hair and rapid linear strokes in which she creates these perfect lines!

PLACEMENT

Bianca attributes her natural sun-kissed looking highlights to her customized placement with each client. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to her technique. Rather, she uses the client’s haircut as a guide to creating a natural effect where the sun would naturally hit the hair.

USE OLAPLEX!

Bianca uses Olaplex in every single mixture and formulation from lightener to glosses. Olaplex rebuilds the broken bonds in the hair, mitigating the damage done by chemicals during the process. This means whether her client has virgin or highly processed hair– they get Olaplex! For all her balayage mixtures, she used Redken Flashlift 1:2 with 1/16th oz of Olaplex No.1.
